The COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has revealed the full list of vaccination centres for the upcoming AstraZeneca opt-in program which will be open for booking starting tomorrow, 23rd May 2021. It will be available for senior citizens aged 60 years old and above who are residing in the Klang Valley, Johor, Penang and Sarawak.

A total of 1,240,000 doses will be available for online booking and senior citizens can book their appointment which ranges between 7th June until 27th July 2021. There are two AstraZeneca vaccination centres in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sarawak, and one each in Penang and Johor.

Below is the list of vaccination centres:

  • Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Pulau Pinang
  • Persada Johor International Convention Center, Johor Bahru
  • Borneo Convention Center Kuching, Sarawak
  • Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara Miri, Sarawak
  • World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur
  • Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur
  • Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Selangor
  • Ideal Convention Centre, Shah Alam, Selangor

The bookings will be available from noon tomorrow (12pm, 23rd May 2021) at vaksincovid.gov.my. The CITF encourages youths to help their elderly parents and grandparents to book their vaccination slots online.

For those who have registered under the waiting list in Round 1, appointments will be sent out automatically for the next round of vaccinations. There’s no need to book a slot tomorrow for waiting list individuals and do check the MySejahtera app for appointment notification.

Malaysia is adopting a 12-week interval for the AstraZeneca vaccine which is in line with the WHO recommendations. This means you will receive the 2nd dose 12 weeks after your first jab. According to studies, the efficacy for AstraZeneca is found to be higher at 82.4% if the 2nd dose is received on the 12th week onwards.

To recap, the first round of AstraZeneca opt-in booking was fully booked within 4 hours. The first round which covers 260,000 doses is currently being administered until the 6th of June at 4 vaccination centres in the Klang Valley.
