COVID-19: 6,493 new cases and 50 deaths today, active cases now over 52,000

Malaysia has recorded 6,493 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 498,765. There are 50 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 2,149.

The Ministry of Health has reported 4,508 new recoveries and a total of 444,540 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 89.12% while the mortality rate is at 0.43%.

There are currently 52,106 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 643 are in ICU while 363 require respiratory support.

Out of the 6,493 new cases today, 2 are imported while 6,491 are transmitted locally. According to the breakdown, Selangor reported the most with 2,163 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 641 cases, Sarawak with 612 cases and Kelantan with 467 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 18 new clusters today. Below is the full list of new clusters:
