Following yesterday’s Poco M3 Pro 5G alleged design leak, the smartphone company has posted on Twitter that their upcoming smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor. This is a relatively new chip that was revealed by the chipmaker last November.
The SoC is a 7nm chipset that supports 5G connectivity, and is made up of two Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz. It will support up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and also UFS 2.2 storage.
Poco said in the past that the Poco M3 Pro 5G will definitely have better performance than the M3, and that their internal testing has revealed almost an almost 30,000 AnTuTu score increase over the base device.
Besides that, Poco has also revealed on their Twitter page that the new device will come with a 6.5″ 90Hz DotDisplay pushing a resolution of Full HD+. They’re also touting something called DynamicSwitch which looks to be some form of adaptive refresh-rate technology.
In case you missed it, yesterday we got a quick glimpse at what is rumoured to be the new Poco M3 Pro 5G’s design and it is definitely a departure from the regular Poco M3. It’s got a black frame around the camera bump that extends vertically down the phone, and will also come in a two-tone Poco Yellow.
Not a lot else has been revealed by the company, but we do know that the phone is designed to replace the Poco X3 NFC, which is a wildly popular affordable mid-range smartphone around the RM900 price point. The phone is set to officially launch on the 19th of May 2021, so stay tuned for more details.
