Huawei Vision S 4K 120Hz smart displays are launching in Malaysia on 27 April

Huawei is launching its Vision S series in Malaysia next week and this is their new smart display that promises to offer more than just a TV. The Vision S runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS and it is available in either 55″ and 65″ sizes.

Both versions feature a 4K LCD panel that pushes 120Hz refresh rate. The Vision S uses a Direct LED backlight illumination and it offers 350 nits of brightness, 5000:1 contrast ratio and 92% DCI-P3 colour gamut. It comes with 4 built-in speakers (2x 10W full frequency + 2x 10W tweeters) that are enhanced with Huawei Histen audio and you can use the Vision S as a connected speaker while the screen is completely switched off.

The Huawei Vision S also features a 13MP magnetic camera that’s mounted on the top which can be used for taking a photo or make video calls. Huawei MeeTime allows you to have face to face video calls at 1080p resolution with other users with a compatible Huawei device. If you’re having a video call on your phone, you can seamlessly transfer to call to the big screen with MeeTime’s Video Call Transfer feature.

Since this is a connected display, you can push your smartphone’s content onto the big screen with a simple tap on the Bluetooth remote control which also supports NFC. You can enable direct mirroring for mobile gaming or transfer photo, videos and apps between your phone at the Vision S.

The Vision S also has AI voice assistant which can be enabled by saying Hey Celia. According to Huawei, it can recognise voices within a 5-metre radius with its 6 mic setup.

The Vision S is believed to be running on a HongHu chip and it comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. It supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi and comes with 3x HDMI 2.0, 1x AV-in, 1x USB 3.0 and 1x SPDIF ports. From the spec sheet, there’s no mention of a TV tuner and it doesn’t seem to support our digital TV (DVB-T2) standard. That means you’ll have to rely mostly on online-based content for your entertainment needs or connect additional video sources via HDMI.

The success of Huawei Vision S is very much dependent on the content available and it is interesting to see which content partners are available for the local market. Apart from showing video content, HarmonyOS is also seen as an enabler for Huawei’s complete ecosystem which will include smartphones, tablets and other IoT products. The operating system will be rolled out to more devices including its recently announced Huawei Mate X2.

To find out more, you can catch the live stream event at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 27th April on Huawei Malaysia’s Facebook and YouTube channel. You can pre-order online at 8pm on 27th April. The 65″ version will be available from 3rd May while the 55″ version will go on sale on 13th May.
