COVID-19: 1,889 new cases today, highest recorded in a day since 6 March

Malaysia has recorded 1,889 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 365,829. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,353.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,485 new recoveries and a total of 347,780 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The number of new cases outnumber recoveries in Malaysia for 7 straight days. The recovery rate is now 95.07% while the mortality rate is at 0.37%.

There are currently 16,696 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 204 are in ICU while 79 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,889 new cases today, 6 are imported while 1,883 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 517 cases, followed by Sarawak with 489 cases, Kelantan with 226 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 134 cases.

A total of 7 new clusters have been identified today and 6 are workplace related. Below is the list of newly identified clusters:

A total of 72 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Tembok Sri Aman cluster recorded the most with 76 cases, followed by Jalan Puncak Borneo cluster with 47 new cases and Permatang Berangan cluster with 27 new cases.
