Malaysia has recorded 1,638 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 349,610. This is the highest recorded in a day since 21st March. There are 3 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,286.
The Ministry of Health has reported 1,449 new recoveries and a total of 333,892 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 95.50% while the mortality rate is still 0.37%.
There are currently 14,432 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 167 are in ICU while 81 require respiratory support.
Out of the 1,638 new cases today, 7 are imported while 1,631 are transmitted locally. Perak recorded the most with 494 new cases, followed by Selangor with 352 cases, Sarawak with 290 cases and Pulau Pinang with 92 cases.
According to the Ministry of Health, 486 out of 494 cases reported in Perak are from the Jalan Pelabuhan cluster which was first identified on 20th February 2021.
