Hardware Specs
Upfront, the device gets a 6.81″ QuadHD+ AMOLED display that boasts a high 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. The screen boasts a high contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and a peak brightness of 1700 nits. For better durability, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Under the hood, it still runs on the latest 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 that’s paired with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It also can be equipped with either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage which isn’t expandable.
The Mi 11 Ultra is also Xiaomi’s first smartphone to come with IP68-rated dust and water resistance. This means it can survive being submerged up to 1.5 metres in fresh water for up to 30 minutes. For a more immersive video viewing experience, it also gets a pair of stereo speakers tuned by Harmon Kardon.
The Mi 11 Ultra probably has one of the biggest camera bumps on a smartphone. One of its key feature is its 1.1″ AMOLED display on the rear. This always-on display can be used to show notifications or to frame your shot if you intend on taking selfies with the main cameras.
In the camera department, it gets a 50MP main camera that uses Samsung’s large 1/1.12″ GN2 ISOCELL sensor. There’s also two 48MP Sony 1/2.0″ IMX586 sensors for the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras. The telephoto camera uses a periscope module that provides 10x hybrid zoom or up to 120x digital zoom.
The device can shoot 4K HDR10 videos at 24fps or 4K HDR10+ videos up to 60fps. For selfies, the punch-hole houses a single 20MP front camera that can shoot 1080p videos up to 60fps. The Mi 11 Ultra is also crowned the best smartphone camera on DxOMark Mobile with an overall score of 143 points.
Powering the device is a huge 5,000mAh battery and it supports 67W fast wired and fast wireless charging. According to Xiaomi, you can get a full charge in just 36 minutes. There’s also the reverse wireless charging feature that pushes 10W. The USB-C port supports both QuickCharge 4+ and USB PD3.0 fast charging protocol.
In terms of connectivity, it supports 5G in both SA and NSA architecture, WiFi 6/6e (depending on region), Infrared blaster, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. Out of the box, it runs on MIUI 12 that’s based on Android 11.
