Realme Buds Air 2: Probably the most affordable ANC wireless earbuds, priced at RM199

Realme Malaysia has officially introduced the Buds Air 2 and this appears to be the most affordable wireless earbuds that you can buy that offers active noise cancellation (ANC). The Realme Buds Air 2 succeeds the original Buds Air that was launched last year and interestingly, it is RM100 cheaper.

Pricing and availability

The Realme Buds Air 2 is officially priced at RM199 in Malaysia and it will go on sale from 3rd April 2021 at Realme brand stores and authorised dealers. If you prefer to get it online, it will be available on the official store on Lazada from 8th April 2021. It is offered in two colours – Closer Black and Closer White.

Hardware Specs

The Buds Air 2 still comes with an “AirPod” style design with protruding stems which now comes with a dual-tone look. The eartips are replaceable and the earbuds are IPX5 rated for water resistance. Each buds feature 10mm “diamond-like carbon” drivers and it uses a newer R2 chip that promises to offer intelligent noise cancellation with ultra-low power consumption.

According to Realme, the Buds Air 2’s ANC feature can reduce low frequency noises up to 25dB and there’s also transparency mode which allows you to engage in a conversation without taking your earbuds off. There’s also dual-mic ENC to reduce noise during voice calls.

The Buds Air 2 can last up to 5 hours on a single charge with ANC turned off or 4 hours with ANC turned on. With the case included, you can get up to 25 hours of total music playback without ANC or up to 22.5 hours with ANC enabled.

If you need to charge quickly, a 10-minute charge is said to be enough to provide 2 hours of music playback. To charge both case and earbuds fully, it would take about 2 hours via its USB-C port.

The Realme Buds Air 2 supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Google Fair Pair for a seamless setup. If you plan on using this for gaming, there’s also a 88ms Super Low Latency mode which can be enabled when you use the Realme Link app. For more info, you can check out the official product page.
