Selangkah Biz app allows any small businesses in Malaysia to accept card and eWallet payments

Selangkah has launched Selangkah Biz—powered by Kiple—a feature on the Selangkah app (iOS, Android) which allows businesses in Malaysia transition into a cashless business environment. It aims to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs), especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With Selangkah Biz, any registered businesses in Malaysia can accept cashless payments using their own devices, transforming their phones into payment terminals with just a few taps,” wrote Selangkah in their press release.

Just like what Rory reported earlier in February, businesses are able to accept payments from customers using “any eWallet provider”. This includes Kiplepay, Boost, TNG Digital, Grabpay, Alipay, Wechat Pay, and Razerpay. Maybank QR, credit card and debit card payments will be “coming soon”.

With every transaction, your business will be charged with a small percentage. The lowest amount would be a 0.80% charge for a debit card payment, followed by a 1.00% for eWallet payments. The highest amount would be a 1.30% charge for a credit card payment.

If you’re a merchant, here’s how you register for Selangkah Biz:

  • Visit biz.selangkah.my/merchant
  • Get these copies of documents ready. The documents vary depending on the type of business you own
  • Register your details
  • Selangkah will verify your details within 4 business days if all documents are completed. They will give you a call to request for additional details or documents if there is any missing information
  • Once approved, you will receive an email with your login credentials

However, Selangkah notes that businesses will only be able to activate Selangkah Biz with an Android device (Android version 4.4 and above). They mention that it will be available on iOS “soon”.

“Digitalisation may seem like a challenge for businesses that have yet to experience the benefits of the transformation, so we want to show them that it does not have to be a difficult process if you have the right tools. We intend to make the process as seamless as possible so they can reap the benefits of these digital technologies in their daily lives,” said KiplePay Chief Executive Officer Tan Kay Yen.

The Selangkah app is available on iOS and Android, but the Biz feature is only currently available for Android users. The “super app” will also soon roll out Selangkah Wallet, Selangkat Pay to provide its users with “a one-stop solution for all their digital needs in the new normal”.
