COVID-19: New cases dip to 1,470 today, total active cases now less than 17,000

Malaysia has recorded 1,470 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 322,409. There are 3 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,206.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,830 new recoveries and a total of 304,492 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 94.44% while the mortality rate is at 0.37%.

There are currently 16,711 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 162 are in ICU while 70 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,470 new cases today, 12 are imported while 1,458 are transmitted locally. Selangor reported the most with 551 cases, followed by Sarawak with 222 cases, Pulau Pinang with 178 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 158 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified just two new clusters today which are workplace related. This include Jalan Mega Cemerlang cluster in Johor and Jalan Pria cluster in Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 52 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Jalan Salak construction site cluster recorded the most with 73 new cases, followed by Lintang Bayan Lepas cluster with 56 cases and Tembok Tapah cluster with 49 new cases.
