The Oppo Find X3 launches with a Snapdragon 870… but only for China

The Oppo Find X3 Pro was just launched yesterday, and it’s certainly one of the best Android phones you’ll find anywhere right now—or at least, on paper. And while the global launch didn’t specifically mention a vanilla model, the regular Find X3 has now been announced! Unfortunately, the release appears to be limited to customers in China for now, although it’s within the realm of possibilities that Oppo makes this a wider, regional release in the future.

In any case, if you’re particularly keen, you’ll probably be able to pick an AP unit up from parallel importers soon, although you should only make purchases of this nature from reputable dealers. Now, here’s everything you need to know about the Oppo Find X3.

Oppo Find X3: What’s different from the Pro?

From what we can tell, the Find X3 is a very similar phone to the Find X3 Pro, although there are obviously some compromises that had to be made to keep the price down. For one thing, Oppo has equipped the vanilla Find X3 with a Snapdragon 870 compared to the Pro’s Snapdragon 888. Also, you only get 8GB of RAM here, with the Find X3 Pro utilising 12GB of RAM in contrast.

Besides that, the standard Find X3 comes with the same features and specs as the Find X3 Pro. That includes the 3MP microlens, which is probably one of the most impressive things about the Find X3 Pro; to be honest, I’m surprised Oppo included this on their vanilla model, so props to them for this. There are also two 50MP Sony IMX766 1/1.56″ sensors for the wide and ultra-wide cameras, along with a 13MP telephoto shooter that offers up to 5x of hybrid zoom and 2x optical zoom.

Up front, a 32MP selfie camera sits within the hole-punch cutout on the 6.7″ AMOLED display, which pushes a QHD+ resolution of 1440×3216 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Even the battery is identical in size at 4,500mAh, and the Oppo Find X3 can be charged at 65W over USB-C, or 30W with an AirVOOC wireless charger.

From what we can tell, it looks like the Oppo Find X3 is nearly indistinguishable from the Find X3 Pro. You get the same sleek, iPhone 12 Pro-like design on the back of the phone, which Oppo says takes 40 hours to create out of a single piece of glass. They’ve also included the same “billion colour” display, and as mentioned earlier, you get that impressive, unique microlens.

So, what do you think? Would you get the Find X3 over the Find X3 Pro if it ever hits Malaysian shelves? Official pricing in China is as follows:

Oppo Find X3 – 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – CNY 4,499 (~RM2,851)
Oppo Find X3 – 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – CNY 4,999 (~RM3,168)
