NSC: Inter-district travel allowed nationwide from 5th March, except for Sabah

The National Security Council (NSC) has announced that inter-district travel will be permitted throughout Malaysia except for Sabah, beginning this Friday, 5th March 2021. However, interstate travel will still not be allowed.

In case you missed it, the government has already lifted restrictions of passengers per vehicle. You may ferry more passengers up to the legal seating capacity since 19th February 2021.

The more stringent Movement Control Order 2.0 will end this coming Friday as the government will be placing majority of states and territories under Recovery (RMCO) and Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

According to the NSC, the states and territories of Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Perlis, Sabah, Putrajaya and Labuan will be placed under RMCO. Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pulau Pinang, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Perak and Kelantan are placed on CMCO.

[ UPDATE 02/03/2021 21:00 ]: Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are considered as a single zone and no permit is required to travel between the two states. More details here.

Social events will be allowed starting from 5th March 2021 at RMCO and CMCO areas. This includes feasts, wedding, engagement, prayers, anniversary celebration, reunions, retreat and other various social events. Maximum seating capacity by area size will be allowed for RMCO areas while seating must be reduced by 50% for CMCO areas.
