The Technogym MyRun is a treadmill that works with your iPad to keep you fit at home

Technogym is a company that focuses on products and digital technologies for fitness, sports, and health, with an ecosystem made up of connected smart equipment coupled to on-demand training experiences and digital services. In the past, we’ve seen them launch the Technogym Bike—and now, the company has launched MyRun: a home treadmill that works with an iPad to offer personalised training experiences from the comfort of your home.

Technogym says that you’ll be able to choose your favourite trainers from a comprehensive library of on-demand content via a compatible iPad, including one-to-one sessions, athletic training sessions, and tailored workout routines. You’ll also have access to virtual paths—some through nature settings, others in iconic cities around the globe.

The Technogym MyRun also works with Technogym Sessions—which means that you’ll be able to choose workouts that are designed around your own personal objectives. Your selected trainer will be able to offer advice and “encouragement” to achieve your goals, while Technogym Routines also offers guided workouts with varying intensity levels. Meanwhile, the Technogym Live app also offers a bunch of music playlists for those of you who are used to spinning with thumping, fast-paced beats—or, you can access your Spotify account directly via the interface on your iPad.

Something else that’s interesting here is Technogym’s claim that the MyRun treadmill is the only device in its category with “low environmental impact”. This is down to “extremely reduced” power consumption in standby mode; the treadmill only switches on automatically whenever you step onto it.

“Its running surface adapts to the way you run and absorbs impact efficiently, shielding your joints at lower speeds and offering more reactivity during sprints. With a variable incline up to 12% and speed max of 20 km/h, as well as the tracking of your biometric data—heath rate, cadence and stride length—Technogym MYRUN allows you to find the optimal training intensity to reach your goals and keep them monitored.”

Other specs include an adaptive running surface that automatically makes adjustments to fit your running style, while absorbing impact and protecting your joints at lower speeds. Additionally, there’s also compatibility with Zwift and Rouvy—platforms that are designed to offer runners a way to virtually run around the world. This makes a degree of sense, with popular marathons being cancelled or going virtual due to implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.

And finally, the Technogym Live app is only available on iPads with iOS 12 versions or later. For the 12.9″ iPad Pro, it’s technically supported, but it will not fit into the dedicated slot on the treadmill. Meanwhile Zwift is now supported with Android tablets, and the company promises that the Technogym live app will be available on Android soon. Users are advised to check with App Store/Play Store compatibility for individual models.

Price and availability

The Technogym MyRun treadmill is now available at a price of RM20,350 (including VAT, delivery, and installation). Customers will have full access to the Technogym Live app until June 2021, while there is also a Chinese New Year promo right now where each purchase will come with a complimentary 10.2″ iPad (model not confirmed).
