Deal: Asus offers ExpertBook B9 laptop with a free 15.6″ ZenScreen portable monitor

The Asus ExpertBook B9 was one of the lightest business laptops introduced last year by the Taiwanese device maker. It was also claimed by Asus to be the world’s lightest 14” business laptop and weighs as light as 870g.

Now, Asus has a limited time promo for the ExpertBook B9. When you buy an ExpertBook B9 from now until 31st March and you can redeem a free 15.6” Asus ZenScreen MB16ACE portable USB monitor, worth RM1,169.

To redeem your free portable monitor you will need to buy any variant of the ExpertBook B9 from Asus’ authorised dealers. Next you will need to register with Asus and submit your proof of purchase along with your personal information on this website and that’s it. Asus will send the portable monitor within one month after verifying the purchase.

You will need to hurry though as this promotion is limited to the first 50 customers who have managed to register with Asus.

To sweeten the deal further, Asus has revised the price of the ExpertBook B9 as it now has a new starting price of RM5,599. That is RM700 cheaper than its retail price when it first launched last year.

In case you are wondering, this variant comes with an Intel Core i5-10210U processor paired with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD. It has a 33Wh battery and weighs 870g.

We have reached out to Asus to find out the revised price for the other four configurations of the ExpertBook B9 and will update this story once we learn of the new price.

Just to recap, the ExpertBook B9 is a lightweight business laptop that features a 14” Full HD 16:9 IPS display with slim bezels and outputs at a peak brightness of 300 nits.

In terms of specs, it can be configured with either an Intel Core i5-10210U or an Intel Core i7-10510U. This can be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage via two M.2 PCIe drives.

The ExpertBook B9 comes in two battery configurations with an option for a 33Wh or 66Wh battery that Asus claims will last up to 12 hours and 24 hours on a single charge respectively. The choice of battery affects the weight though this is negligible, the 33Wh 2-cell unit weighs just 870g while the 66Wh 4-cell device weighs 995g.

Despite its thin and light appearance, the ExpertBook B9 is built tough as it features MIL-STD-810G durability rating plus a spill-proof keyboard. In addition, it has reinforcements along the I/O ports and the hinge for added durability.

Asus’ lightweight business notebook also boasts a solid set of ports including two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports (40Gb), one USB Type A 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gb), one HDMI port, an audio combo jack, a Kensington lock as well a micro HDMI port that can double as an Ethernet port with the use of an adapter.

Meanwhile, the ZenScreen MB16ACE is a highly portable monitor that measures 8mm slim and weighs just 710g. Asus claims the ZenScreen is the lightest 15.6″ portable monitor on the market.

The ZenScreen uses a hybrid signal solution which allows it to use a single USB connector to connect with any laptop with a USB Type-C or USB Type-A port. The portable monitor can also automatically detect its orientation and switch the image its showing between landscape or portrait mode.

You can find out more about the ExpertBook B9 in our review here. It comes highly recommended by my colleague Rory who has used it as his daily driver for almost a year now. As he aptly put it in his review, after using the ExpertBook B9 nearly every other notebook out there feels heavy now.
