Malaysia has recorded 4,029 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 155,095. Today marks a record high and it’s the first time Malaysia has reported over 4,000 cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 594.
The Ministry of Health has reported 2,148 new recoveries and a total of 117,375 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 75.7% while the mortality rate is 0.4%.
There are currently 37,126 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 205 are in ICU while 79 require respiratory support.
Out of the 4,029 new cases today, 8 are imported while 4,021 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,466 cases, followed by Johor with 719 cases, Sabah with 449 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 347 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 214 cases.
The Ministry of Health has identified 6 new COVID-19 clusters today. This include the Senai Cyber cluster in Johor, Tembok Nanas cluster in Johor, Jalan Sembrong cluster in Johor, Jalan Permata cluster in Negeri Sembilan, Taman Juta cluster in Perak and Kampung Lebu cluster in Pahang.
A total of 71 active clusters has recorded new cases today. The Sungai Putus cluster recorded the most with 336 cases, followed by Bukit Pasir cluster with 189 cases and newly identified Senai Cyber cluster has 111 new cases.
