Malaysia has recorded 3,337 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 147,855. This is a new record high beating the previous 3,309 cases recorded on 12th January. There are 15 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 578.
The Ministry of Health has reported 1,710 new recoveries and a total of 113,288 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 76.6% while the mortality rate is now 0.4%.
There are currently 33,989 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 195 are in ICU while 86 require respiratory support.
Out of the 3,337 new cases today, 7 are imported while 3,330 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,036 new cases, followed by Johor with 460 cases, Sabah with 389 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 257 cases and Penang with 234 cases.
According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 7 new clusters have been identified today. This include Jalan Selayang cluster in Selangor, Tropika cluster in Johor, Pasir Barat cluster in Johor, Dutamas construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Pahang cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Rantau-Siliau cluster in Negeri Sembilan and Intan Mas cluster in Perak.
A total of 78 active clusters have recorded new COVID-19 cases today. The Beringin cluster reported the most with 177 new cases, followed by Sungai Putus and Pasai clusters which recorded 157 new cases each.
