COVID-19: 2,433 new cases today, active cases now over 27,000

Malaysia has recorded 2,433 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 135,992. There are 9 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 551.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,277 new recoveries and a total of 108,109 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 79.5% while the mortality rate is now 0.40%.

There are currently 27,332 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 171 are in ICU while 76 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,433 new cases today, 7 are imported while 2,426 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 730 COVID-19 cases, followed by Sabah with 403 cases, Johor with 321 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 231 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 144 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Cyber construction site cluster in Selangor, Texmile cluster in Selangor, Jalan Sibuga cluster in Sabah, Alor Durian clsuter in Kelantan and Wakaf Lanas cluster in Kelantan.

A total of 65 active clusters have recorded new COVID-19 cases today. The Jalan Harapan prison cluster recorded the most with 79 new cases, followed by Rawa Akasia cluster with 73 cases and Beringin cluster with 65 new cases.
