COVID-19: New cases drop to 2,451 today, there are 26,185 active cases remaining

Malaysia has recorded 2,451 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 133,559. There are 5 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 542.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,401 new recoveries and a total of 106,832 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 80.0% while the mortality rate is now 0.4%.

There are currently 26,185 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 177 are in ICU while 82 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,451 new cases today, 5 are imported while 2,446 are transmitted locally. Selangor records the most with 564 new cases, followed by Sabah with 409 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 351 cases, Johor with 302 cases, Pulau Pinang with 273 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 198 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Mikro cluster in Johor, Symphony Magazine cluster in Pulau Pinang, Pasai cluster in Sarawak, Teknologi Kesidang cluster in Melaka and Palut cluster in Terengganu.

A total of 58 active clusters have reported new cases today. The Jalan Harapan prison cluster recorded the most with 291 new cases, followed by Beringin cluster with 226 cases and Jalan Perindustrian cluster with 115 cases.
