Mi 10i: Everything you need to know about Xiaomi’s made-in-India mid-ranger

Xiaomi has just launched the latest smartphone in the Mi 10 series, and this time, it’s the Mi 10i in India. Based on its looks and specs, it looks a lot like a rebadge of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G that was launched in China in 2020, although Xiaomi’s latest device is reportedly made in India as part of Xiaomi’s initiative.

Beyond that, everything looks practically identical to the China-only Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, although configurations available differ slightly. Before we get into the specs of Xiaomi’s latest mid-range phone, here’s what you need to know about pricing.

Price and availability

The Mi 10i is available in three colourways: Pacific Sunrise, Midnight Black, and Atlantic Blue. At the moment, this is an India-exclusive device, and we haven’t received any word on a potential wider release. Official pricing is as follows:

Mi 10i – 6GB RAM, 64GB storage – INR 20,999 (~RM1,151)
Mi 10i – 6GB RAM, 128GB storage – INR 21,999 (~RM1,206)
Mi 10i – 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – INR 23,999 (~RM1,316)

Sales in India will begin on the 8th of January, although the most affordable variant (6GB+64GB) will only be available later.

Mi 10i specs and features

As mentioned above, specs are identical to the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G as far as we can tell. That includes a 6.67″ 120Hz Full HD+ LCD display, and an upper-midrange Snapdragon 750G under the hood. You do, of course, have 5G connectivity via an onboard X52 5G modem, while you can charge the 4,820mAh battery from 0–100 percent in 58 minutes at 33W via USB-C.

One of the headlining features is the 108MP main camera, which uses the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor. The rest of the phone’s quad-camera rear setup is made up of an 8MP ultra-wide shooter, and 2MP sensors for macro shots and depth sensing. Meanwhile, a 16MP selfie shooter sits in a small hole-punch cutout on the display up front.

For those of you who (still) use wired headphones, the Mi 10i comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and there’s also stereo speakers on the phone. Plus, you’ll get a IR blaster (so you can basically turn your phone into a remote control for a variety of compatible appliances at home). There isn’t an in-display fingerprint scanner (expected on an LCD display), and the Mi 10i uses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner instead.

And yes, you’ll get a power adapter out of the box, along with a USB-C cable and a basic protective case for your new phone.
