Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra camera specs revealed

Samsung is expected to step up its photography game with its new Galaxy S21 series. Ahead of the launch that’s happening next week, serial leakster Evan Blass has revealed the camera specs for the new Galaxy S21 trio from a cropped infographic.

As seen on previous leaks, the new flagship devices will feature a rather unique camera bump design that flows seamlessly to its side frame. Both the S21 and S21+ models will get a triple-camera setup while the Ultra will get a quad-camera array.

As shown in the leaked spec-sheet above, the two lower models will feature a 12MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 64MP f/2.0 telephoto camera. For selfies, the device still gets a centre-aligned punch-hole that houses a 10MP front camera.

There’s no mention of the telephoto camera’s optical zoom range but it was recently hinted that it will come with a hybrid-optic-zoom feature. This sounds a lot like “Space Zoom” that was introduced on last year’s Galaxy S20 series.

The top of the line Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has the most sophisticated setup in the series. The main unit uses higher resolution 108MP f/1.8 camera and it comes with a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter. This time, Samsung is using two telephoto cameras – 10MP f/2.4 and 10MP f/4.9 for its highest model.

According to another leakster, Roland Quandt, one of the S21 Ultra’s telephoto cameras can push 3x optical zoom, while the other unit appears to be using a periscope module that can push 10x optical zoom. Similar to last year’s flagship, the S21 Ultra gets a high-resolution 40MP sensor for its punch-hole selfie camera.

These new flagship devices will be launched during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event that’s happening on the 14th of January 2021. You can watch it live on Samsung’s official channels at 11pm Malaysian time. If you register your interest now, Samsung Malaysia is offering a free Galaxy Fit 2 fitness band when you pre-order your Galaxy S21.
