Google now includes “short videos” in their search results, includes TikTok and Instagram videos

Twitter user @SaadAlikhan1994 tweeted that he noticed a “Short Videos” section in his mobile Google search results. They not only included short videos found on YouTube, but on TikTok and Instagram, as well.

However, Saad AK said that the short videos section doesn’t show up for every query. He searched for “biryani” on Google and received a number of short YouTube videos about the subject.

I am seeing "Short Videos" carousel on mobile. But not for every query. It's rare I guess.
Query was: Biryani

Brian Freiesleben of technology company Merkle responded to the tweet. He noted that search results also showed TikTok and Instagram videos in the short video section when he looked for “green bay packers”.

Google said the pilot was “an early, limited feature that won’t pop up for every search query”. They also said that the short videos category will show up on a desktop browser as well as mobile. But in my own research, “short videos” only showed up on my mobile—not on my desktop browser yet.

It’s also important to note that the “Videos” section in your Google search results are different from the “Short Videos” section. the “Videos” section can be videos that stretch to more than 10 minutes long, or even longer. The “Short Videos” section however range between a few seconds to about one or two minutes—based on what I looked up.

So far, the section (if it does show up) will only really be seen if you scroll a bit further down on the first page of your search results. But since search results can sometimes scarily read your mind, it might look different in your own searches.
