The Xiaomi Mi 11 is finally official and this is the world’s first smartphone to run on Qualcomm’s 5nm Snapdragon 888 processor. Unlike its predecessor, Xiaomi only announced a single Mi 11 device and there’s no Mi 11 Pro or Ultra model just yet.
As the first flagship for 2021, the Mi 11 packs a lot of top spec features. Upfront, it has a 6.81″ “quad-curve” AMOLED display that pushes a WQHD resolution of 3200×1440 pixels. On top of that, it also pushes a high refresh rate of 120Hz and a high touch sampling rate of 480Hz.
The screen boasts a high contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and it supports HDR10+ with a peak brightness of 1500 nits. According to Xiaomi, the Mi 11 was given an A+ rating from DisplayMate.
Similar to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, it uses Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass Victus for better screen durability. The device features an in-screen fingerprint sensor which apparently doubles up as a heart rate monitor.
Under the hood, it runs on Qualcomm’s 5nm Snapdragon 888 processor with Adreno 660 graphics. The device can be configured with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage options of either 128GB or 256GB.
For an immersive gaming and video viewing experience, it also features stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon with support for Hi-Res audio.
In the camera department, it gets a triple-camera setup that’s housed in a cube shape camera bump. This include a 108MP f/1.85 main camera with a 1/1.33″ sensor, a 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5MP f/2.4 macro shooter. Unfortunately, there’s no telephoto camera but we reckon that could be reserved for its upcoming Pro model.
The device can shoot 8K videos at 24fps or 30fps, as well as 4K videos up to 60fps. For selfies, the punch-hole on the top left corner of the screen houses a 20MP front camera that can shoot 1080p videos up to 60fps.
In terms of connectivity, this is a 5G phone that supports both SA and NSA architecture. It also supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, dual-frequency GPS and it still comes with an IR blaster.
Powering the Mi 11 is a decent 4,600mAh battery that can support 55W fast charging via USB-C. It supports QC4+ as well as USB Power Deliver 3 charging standards. The device also supports 50W fast wireless charging as well as 10W reverse wireless charging.
According to Xiaomi, you can get a full charge in just 45 minutes with a 55W wired charger. Meanwhile, the 50W fast wireless charger can push 100% charge in 53 minutes. Out of the box, it still runs on Android 10 with MIUI 12.5 skin on top.

The Mi 11 pricing is exactly the same as the current Mi 10 that was introduced in February this year.
As teased a few days earlier, Xiaomi has decided to ship its latest flagship smartphone without a charger included in the box. As a result, the new flagship device is packed in a lighter and thinner box. If you need a charger, you could get the 55W GaN charger separately which retails for CNY 99 (about RM61).
During the launch event, it is revealed that the Mi 11 + 55W GaN charger combo will be priced the same as the standalone offering. This will provide consumers an option to get a charger at no extra cost if required.
The Mi 11 is available in 3 matte colour options – Midnight Grey, Horizon Blue and Frost White, as well as 2 vegan leather finishes – Lilac Purple and Honey Beige.
If you’re looking for something different, Xiaomi has also announced the Lei Jun signature edition that comes with a striking vertical pattern design. The special edition device is only offered with 12GB RAM + 256GB storage and it still retains the same price tag of CNY 4,699 (about RM2,914).
The devices are available for pre-order in China from 10pm tonight. So far there are no details yet for its international availability including Malaysia.
