COVID-19: New cases drop to 1,153 today, almost 60% reported in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,153 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 91,969. There is one new deaths reported and the death toll is now 433.

The Ministry of Health has reported 998 new recoveries and a total of 76,242 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 82.9% while the mortality rate remains at 0.5%.

There are currently 15,294 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 112 are in ICU while 56 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,153 new cases reported today, 2 are imported while 1,151 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 401 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 281 cases, Sabah with 199 cases, Perak with 82 cases and Johor with 75 cases. Perlis and Terengganu recorded zero new cases today.

The Ministry has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Keris Residence cluster in Sabah, Brumas cluster in Sabah, Zuhrah construction site cluster in Selangor, Long Panji cluster in Kelantan and Jalan Timah cluster in Johor.

A total of 41 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Jalan Stadium construction site cluster recorded the most with 167 new cases, followed by Jalan Harapan prison cluster with 96 cases and Tembok cluster with 80 new cases.
