PLUS: Here are the recommended interstate travel times for the year end holiday season

For a smoother trip on the North South Expressway, PLUS Malaysia has issued its Travel Time Advisory (TTA) for the coming Christmas and New Year 2021 holiday season. The recommended travel times are focused on traffic distribution and it is aimed at reducing traffic congestion on the highway.

Here are the recommended travel times for the period between 22 December 2020 to 19 January 2021.

For highway users travelling out from the Klang Valley, it is recommended to start your journey before 9.00am if you’re going to Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak (North) and Johor. If your destination is at other states, PLUS recommends that you start your trip after 12.00pm.

Meanwhile, for those driving to the Klang Valley, they recommend starting your journey before 9.00am. This is applicable to all states including Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Johor.

PLUS Managing Director Datuk Azman Ismail said they encourage the public to closely follow the TTA schedule as they stand a better chance of experiencing a smoother journey as well as to avoid congestion. PLUS expects an increase of up to 30% of traffic or 1.7 million vehicles on every peak day during the holiday season. Typically, there are 1.3 million vehicles on PLUS-operated highways during normal days.

As usual, PLUS reminds its highway users to ensure that their Touch ‘n Go cards and eWallets have sufficient balance at all times. Users can top up their TNG card at over 13,000 reload points nationwide before they start their journey.

Since we are still in the middle of the pandemic, users are also urged to adhere to the SOP to reduce the spread of COVID-19. This includes wearing face mask, check-in via MySejahtera and maintain social distancing when visiting their Rest & Service Areas (R&Rs). You can find out more here.

Customers can also get the latest traffic updates from the PLUS app (iOSAndroid) or follow them on Twitter at @PlusTrafik.
