Malaysia has recorded 1,772 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 86,618. There are 3 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 422.
The Ministry of Health has reported 1,084 new recoveries and a total of 71,681 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 82.8% while the mortality rate is now 0.49%.
There are currently 14,515 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 118 are in ICU while 56 require respiratory support.
Out of the 1,772 new cases today, 12 are imported while 1,760 are transmitted locally. Kuala Lumpur reported the most with 696 cases, followed by Selangor with 503 cases, Sabah with 260 cases and Perak with 110 cases.
There are no new clusters identified today. A total of 55 active clusters have reported new COVID-19 cases today. The Damanlela construction site cluster has recorded the most with 568 new cases today, followed by Tembok cluster with 99 cases and Rimbun construction site cluster with 27 new cases.
At the moment, China has a total of 86,758 COVID-19 cases which is mere 140 more than Malaysia’s current figures. Malaysia is expected to surpass China’s total number of infections this week.
Globally, there are more than 73 million confirmed cases and a total of 1.6 million deaths recorded so far. The US is still the highest with close to 17 million positive cases and over 300,000 deaths. The global average recovery rate is 69.51% while the mortality rate is 2.22%.
