Apple AirPods Max: Let’s be honest, the case looks like it deserves to be made fun of

Apple revealed the AirPods Max—the biggest member of the AirPods family and the first to feature an over-ear design that boasts high-fidelity audio. However, what netizens are more amused at is the design of the case—and they’re having a field day making fun of it on Twitter.

The AirPods Max case lets you hold the actual band of your AirPods like the straps of a handbag, and two very awkwardly placed “cups”. According to Apple, it’s a “soft, slim Smart Case that puts AirPods Max in an ultra-low power state that helps preserve the battery life when not in use.”

The case’s design however sparked controversy as netizens on Twitter compared the case to a bra, or a sleeping mask. One Twitter user even called it a “butt purse“—whatever that means.

While the case is “bra-shaped”, I doubt it can ever double as an actual bra. But it’s hilarious enough to make fun of the shape of the case—because if you needed to pay the hefty price of RM2,399, you shouldn’t be embarrassed to carry the case around in public.

The design of the Apple AirPods Max itself is pretty neat, though. It comes in Space Grey, Silver, Sky Blue, Green and Pink, uses a breathable knit mesh canopy for the band to reduce on-head pressure, and uses a stainless steel headband frame.

The pricing for the AirPods Max in Malaysia is RM2,399, but it isn’t available in Malaysia yet. In first wave countries including the US and Australia, it is now available for pre-order and with stocks expected to arrive on 15 December.
