Huawei Mate 40 Pro goes on sale in Malaysia on 12.12 with free Huawei Sound X speaker

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is finally coming to Malaysia and you can order the flagship device this coming Saturday, during the 12.12 sale. As part of its first-day sale promo, Huawei Malaysia is offering freebies worth up to RM3,300 which also include the Huawei Sound X speaker worth RM1,299 while stocks last.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is officially priced at RM4,299 in Malaysia and it’s only available with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. If you’re interested, you can place your order from 10.08am on 12th December 2020.

According to the official online store, the flagship device is only offered in Mystic Silver. As a comparison, last year’s Mate 30 Pro 5G was priced at RM4,199 while the 4G version was going for RM3,899.

According to the listing, the Sound X speaker is limited to 1,000 units and you’ll have to redeem it via the Huawei Member Centre from 18th to 20th December 2020. The speaker will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

Other freebies include free access to Huawei Video, Huawei Book and 50GB Cloud storage. On top of that, you can enjoy extra rebates, savings and perks from the Huawei AppGallery, Huawei Pay and Huawei Member Centre.

Hardware Specs

The Mate 40 Pro is regarded as probably the last flagship phone of its kind and it runs on Huawei’s top of the line 5nm Kirin 9000 processor with 5G support. It has a 6.76″ OLED screen that pushes a 2772×1344 pixels resolution and a high 90Hz refresh rate.

The rear gets a huge round camera bump that houses a triple-camera setup. This includes a 50MP main camera, a 20MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 12MP periscope telephoto camera that can push up to 50x digital zoom. The display has a wide punch-hole on the top left corner which houses a 13MP main selfie and a 3D ToF sensor.

Unlike its previous models, the Mate 40 Pro now features a pair of stereo speakers and it also retains IP68 dust and water resistance. Powering the device is a respectable 4,400mah battery that supports 66W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging.

Do note that the device doesn’t come with Google apps and services pre-installed, and you’ll have to use Huawei AppGallery to discover and download new apps. In case you missed it, Huawei Pay has finally arrived in Malaysia and it currently supports UnionPay credit cards issued by ICBC.
