COVID-19: New cases jump to 1,600 today, Negeri Sembilan records the most with 541 cases

Malaysia has recorded 1,600 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 74,294. There are 2 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 384.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,033 new recoveries and a total of 62,306 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 83.9% while the mortality rate is now 0.5%.

There are currently 11,604 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 129 are in ICU while 57 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,600 new COVID-19 cases today, 3 are imported while 1,597 are transmitted locally. Negeri Sembilan recorded the most today with 541 new cases, of which 500 are from the Bakti cluster. This is followed by Selangor with 426 cases, Sabah with 248 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 148 cases and Johor with 98 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 2 new clusters today in the Klang Valley. This include Malawati cluster in Selangor and Bina Awan Lembah construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 51 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Bakti cluster which is linked to a prison in Seremban recorded the most with 500, followed by Batu Tujuh cluster with 53 cases and Tembok cluster with 49 cases.
