Apple has officially acknowledged an iPhone 11 issue which affects touch responsiveness. To solve the problem, eligible customers will be able to get it fixed for free and this include users in Malaysia.
According to Apple, a small number of iPhone 11 displays may stop responding to touch input due to an issue with the display module. It added that touch screen issue affects devices manufactured between November 2019 to May 2020.
If you’re affected, you can check if you’re eligible under the display module replacement program by entering your iPhone’s serial number on their web page. Even if you are not having the problem now, Apple says that the replacement program will cover affected iPhone 11 units for 2 years after the first retail sale.
This means if you’ve purchased an affected unit in May 2020, you can still get the free replacement until May 2022 provided that your serial number is listed and the phone is exhibiting the touch screen problem. Take note that this program does not extend the standard warranty coverage for the iPhone 11.
Affected customers will have to send in their devices to an Apple Authorised Service Provider. You must perform a full backup and factory reset before sending your device in.
If there’s any existing damage which impairs the ability to replace the display module, such as a cracked screen, that damage needs to be resolved first which may incur additional cost.
For customers who have paid for the display module replacement to solve the same issue may request for a refund by contacting Apple. If you have any questions, you can direct them to Apple’s Support Team.
