Serial leakster Evan Blass has just spilled the beans on Samsung’s upcoming in-ear headphones, the Galaxy Buds Pro. The new Samsung wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC) is expected to be revealed alongside the upcoming Galaxy S21 as early as January 2021.
This is seen as the successor to the Galaxy Buds Live which came with a unique kidney bean design that uses hard-tips. As revealed from the leaks, the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro feature a more conventional in-ear design and it appears to come with replaceable tips for a better fit. This design should provide an improved noise cancellation experience as it insulates better than the current Buds Live where you could still hear environmental noise.
The Buds Pro still features a rather organic exterior design like the Buds Live and there are microphone grills with tiny perforation on the outside. Since the leak shows the Buds Pro in violet, this could be Samsung’s new hero colour for its 2021 flagship.
The charging case looks similar to the current Galaxy Buds Live as it retains a rather compact square design which is likely to support wireless charging. According to Evan, the battery is slightly bigger at 500mAh versus the 472mAh capacity on the current Buds Live. As indicated on the lid, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is also tuned by AKG.
To recap, the current Galaxy Buds Live was launched alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series and it is still priced at RM699. That’s also the same price as the Huawei FreeBuds Pro which also comes with ANC. Knowing Samsung, we reckon that these could probably be offered for free or with a discount during the Galaxy S21 pre-order.
At the moment, the TWS earbuds with ANC to beat is still the Sony WF-1000XM3 and you can easily get it for less than RM600 during the big online sales. To learn more about the current Galaxy Buds Live, you can check out our review below:
