7 features you might have missed on the new app, MAE by Maybank2u

This post is brought to you by Maybank.

Maybank recently launched the all-new app, MAE by Maybank2u, which promises to offer next-gen experiences to customers with an all-encompassing digital platform. This isn’t just a simple banking app—instead, it offers a bunch of features that you wouldn’t normally associate with a traditional banking app.

So Maybank customers (and prospective ones), have you tried out the app? If you have (or even if you haven’t), here are 7 underrated features that you might have missed, to help you get the most out of MAE by Maybank2u.

1. Track all of your expenses—even cash transactions

One of the more new useful features that MAE by Maybank2u incorporates is Expenses! Basically, the tool automatically tracks your expenses, allowing you to view and categorise your daily expenses—all in one place.

All of your expenses are tracked, by the way. This includes your current and savings account, along with any debit or credit cards that you may have with Maybank. Something else that will come in handy is the ability to add cash transactions into the tracker manually, so that you can have a complete, holistic picture of your expenditure.

2. The Makan Mana wheel

One of the most challenging dilemmas Malaysians face on a daily basis is, of course, where to eat? It’s a #firstworldproblem, for sure, but one that everyone needs solving.

The next time you encounter this? Open MAE by Maybank2u, and head over to “FoodNearMe”. Here, you’ll see the Makan Mana wheel—aptly named—which will randomly display a number of popular dining places nearby by using geo-location data on your smartphone.

If you’re in the mood for something specific, you can also narrow your search with a filter function. Try this the next time you can’t decide on lunch with your colleagues—and thank us later. Meanwhile, if you spot restaurants that are to your liking under promotions, you’ll even get navigation directions.

3. Digitise your loyalty cards in the app

If you’re one of the folks that walk around with huge wallets, suffer no longer. MAE by Maybank2u’s Loyalty feature allows you to digitalise, and store physical loyalty cards within the app. This means that you won’t need to scramble around for stuff like your Bonus Link card, and the app can support up to 100 cards at a time.

4. Personalise your dashboard

The dashboard on MAE by Maybank2u can be customised to offer you a personalised way to use your favourite features on the app. Essentially, you’re able to select widgets and Quick Actions to allow for easy access to features (like those that we’ve listed above).

All you need to do is to hit “Manage” from your dashboard, and set up your favourite features.

5. Scan & Pay for easy fund transfers

Scan & Pay is a feature that makes it easier to transfer funds on the spot, directly from the app. All you need to do is to open MAE by Maybank2u, and tap on the scanner. Scan the recipient’s QR code from their phone, and directly make payments from your bank account.

Plus, Maybank promises that Scan & Pay is completely safe, due to various security features to ensure your information is protected.

6. Go dutch with the Split Bill feature

When you’re eating out with friends, it can be tedious to manually split the bill—and sometimes, bayar asing just isn’t convenient. On MAE by Maybank2u, you can split a bill equally or separately with two or more participants in your contact list.

For safe-keeping, you can also attach the relevant receipt for participants’ reference, or even send collection reminders if they forget to pay for their share. Pretty neat.

7. Freeze & unfreeze your MAE card within the app

If you’ve ever lost a debit or credit card, you’ll be familiar with the inevitable feeling of panic. However, the MAE card comes with an enhanced security feature, where you can freeze—or unfreeze your card from within MAE by Maybank2u. This ensures that you can instantly disable the card, saving you the trouble of calling customer service to cancel your card.

Essentially, the all-new MAE by Maybank2u is an app that has been designed to go beyond the traditional banking sphere, offering you a platform every Malaysian can use to manage their expenses, daily routines, and even long-term financial planning. If you haven’t already, you can upgrade to the new MAE by Maybank2u on the Google Play Store for Android devices or the App Store for iOS devices.

If you are already a M2U user, this is the new app, and it’s time to upgrade. You can also apply for the MAE card through MAE by Maybank2u, available to existing Maybank customers with a valid and active MAE account. When you sign up before 20 December 2020, you’ll get RM8 cashback, so long as you complete a transaction of RM30 in a single receipt and above with the MAE card. You can even stand a chance to get RM88 cashback.
