Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) has said yesterday that all vehicles travelling within the domestic “green travel bubble” previously announced will be allowed to utilise their full capacity.
Its minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said that the three-per-car rule will be lifted for “green travel bubble” policy.
“For domestic tourism purposes, full capacity in private vehicles and tourist buses.”
“Families can travel within green zones because there are no worries because they travel from green to green [zones],” its minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said in a press conference here.
She added that, however, vehicles within the travel bubble are not allowed to make any stops other than in green zones, unless permitted by the police.
“Vehicles are not allowed to make a stop in red zones,” she said.
Yesterday, the National Security Council (NSC) released a statement on the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the “domestic travel bubble” that allowed travellers from green zones to other green zones without permission from the police.
However, the security council stated that travellers between green zones must obtain police permission if they must cross a red zone.
For families and tourists from travel agencies registered under Motac, travel permission applications can be “made in bulk” to the police.
The statement showed that confirmation of tourists from the green zone must show a declaration of the level of health risk status through MySejahtera profile application, proof of booking accommodation, tickets, travel itinerary or any other document determined by police.
On November 20, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said that Malaysians that are not from green zones would be prevented from using domestic tourism to travel without authorisation.
Motac had vowed yesterday to revive the domestic travel industry, which has been badly hit due to the movement control order (MCO) following the COVID-19 pandemic. — Malay Mail
