COVID-19: 1,208 new cases today, KL reported more cases than Sabah with 475 new cases

Malaysia has recorded 1,208 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 47,417. There are 3 new deaths reported in Sabah and the overall death toll is now 309.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,013 new recoveries and a total of 34,785 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 73.4% while the mortality rate is now 0.7%.

There are currently 12,323 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 104 patients are in ICU while 42 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,208 new cases today, 6 are imported while 1,202 are transmitted locally. The imported infections consist of 3 individuals arriving from India, and 1 each from Bangladesh, Nepal and Indonesia.

Inclusive of the imported cases, Kuala Lumpur recorded the most with 475 new COVID-19 cases, followed by Sabah with 381 cases, Selangor with 185 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 48 cases and Penang with 42 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 3 new clusters today. This includes Plaza cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Jalan Kalabakan cluster in Tawau and Jeri cluster which covers Kota Tinggi, Mersing and Muar in Johor.

Out of the 45 active clusters with new cases today, the Damanlela construction site cluster which covers Kuala Lumpur and Selangor has recorded the most with a staggering 460 new cases. This is followed by Teratai cluster in Selangor with 53 new cases, Perigi cluster in Selangor with 33 new cases and Intan cluster which covers Penang and Kedah with 33 new cases.
