COVID-19: 1,114 new cases today, active cases now over 12,000

Malaysia has recorded 1,114 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 46,209. There are 2 new deaths reported in Sabah and the death toll is now 306.

The Ministry of Health has reported 803 new recoveries and a total of 33,772 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 73.1% while the mortality rate is now 0.7%.

There are currently 12,131 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 103 are in ICU while 43 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,114 new COVID-19 cases today, 2 are imported while 1,112 are transmitted locally. In terms of local cases, Sabah recorded the most with 391 cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 371 cases, Selangor with 199 cases and Perak with 53 cases.

A total of 4 new clusters have been identified. This include Istimewa and Alila clusters in Sabah, Assumption cluster which covers Penang and Kedah and Rajawali cluster in Penang.

A total of 48 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Cergas cluster which covers Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Selangor has reported 364 new cases, followed by the Teratai cluster in Selangor with 50 cases and Tembok cluster which covers Kedah and Perak with 45 cases.
