COVID-19: New cases jump to 1,304 today, 567 cases recorded in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,304 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 45,095. There is 1 new death reported and the death toll is now 304.

The Ministry of Health has reported 900 new recoveries and a total of 32,969 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 73.1% while the mortality rate is now 0.7%.

There are currently 11,822 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 96 are in ICU while 39 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,304 new cases today, 4 are imported while 1,300 are transmitted locally. Sabah still recorded the most with 556 new cases, followed by Selangor with 364 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 202 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 83 cases.

The Ministry has identified 4 new clusters today. This includes Bonggaya and Jambatan B clusters in Sabah, Abell cluster in Sarawak and BMU cluster in Melaka.

A total of 47 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Tapak Bina Damanlela cluster in KL and Selangor recorded the most with 191 cases, followed by Hentian cluster which covers the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan with 164 new cases and the Perigi cluster in Selangor with 82 new cases.

At 1,304 new cases, today marks the second highest number of new COVID-19 cases recorded in the single day. It also ends the 5 day streak of recording 3-digit new cases.
