Air Selangor: Water supply being restored in stages, full restoration by Friday afternoon

Klang Valley residents will soon get their water supply as Air Selangor has began its restoration process at 3pm. It was announced this morning that the four water treatment plants at Rantau Panjang, SSP 1, 2 and 3 have resumed operations at 2.40am this morning.

A total of 1,279 areas in the Klang Valley were affected by water cuts since yesterday evening after contamination as high as 8 TON was detected in Sungai Selangor. As a result, the water treatment plants had to shutdown while millions of litres of water were released from dams to flush out the contaminants.

According to the latest update, the water supply restoration will be done in two phases. A total of 599 areas under phase 1 will be restored fully by 3.00pm on Thursday, 12th November 2020. Meanwhile, the remaining 680 areas in phase 2 will be fully restored by 3.00pm on Friday, 13th November.

You can refer to the full schedule below:

Air Selangor has deployed 111 water tanker trucks to provide water supply to critical areas such as hospitals, dialysis centres and residential areas. Alternatively, affected residents can also get immediate water supply at the 14 public water taps and 17 static tanks.

According to the statement, Air Selangor has expressed disappointment on the frequent water contamination which causes the sudden shutdown of its water treatment plants. They will provide full support to authorities to tackle environmental crimes to ensure that our water source will not be contaminated.
