Let’s start this off with some context. 1More is a audio company that was started in 2014 by three former Foxconn executives, supposedly with the aim of challenging Beats headphones in the global market. The official site mentions that investors include Xiaomi, although a representative has confirmed that 1More functions as an independent brand now.
Now, the audio company is expanding its horizons into the Malaysian market with three headphone offerings. All of the products we’re discussing in this article is now available on 1MORE’s official Lazada store, with pricing as follows:
1More True Wireless ANC In-ear Headphones – RM699
1More Dual Drive ANC Pro Wireless Headphones – RM599
1More ColorBuds True Wireless In-ear Headphones – RM299
Now, let’s break things down for each model.
First up is the flagship offering in the range, the 1More True Wireless ANC In-ear Headphones. A price of RM699 positions these towards the premium end of the spectrum, and specs on paper certainly match this. You get Qi wireless charging, touch controls, and even physical buttons, while the headphones feature 1More’s QuietMax technology, which is the company’s tech, based on ANC (active noise cancelling).
There are actually two levels of ANC here, with dual ANC microphones and the dedicated DSP working in tandem to block out ambient noise effectively. Meanwhile, the headphones are also THX certified, with 1More promising low distortion, and a balanced overall sound that’s supposed to replicate music “the way the artist intended”.
Battery life is just about par in 2020, with six hours of playback time with ANC turned off, although this drops to five hours with ANC turned on. If you include additional charges via the charging case, you’re looking at 22 hours of playback time with ANC turned off. When it runs out of juice, you can charge the headphones from 0-100 percent in two hours—although wireless charging will definitely take longer.
I’ve had the chance to test out these headphones, and from first impressions, they sound pretty good. Staging is decent, ANC is effective at blocking out ambient noise (but still not as good as something like the AirPods Pro), and overall, these sound good—but not great. In any case, keep an eye out for a full review on this on SoyaCincau.com.
Moving down a step, the 1More Dual Driver ANC Pro Wireless Headphones are priced at RM599. You still get Active Noise Cancelling (two levels as well), along with dual drivers that offer “Hi-Res Certified Sound” to offer AAC and LDAC compatibility.
These aren’t TWS headphones, and both earbuds are connected to a neck band, where you’ll charge the headphones. However, you get impressive battery life here, with 20 hours of usage on a single charge (ANC off), while 10 minutes of charging should get you an additional three hours of use. Something else you’re getting over the TWS option is IPX5 water resistance, which means that this should be able to handle splashes and light rainfall.
Finally, 1More promises Wind Noise Resistance (WNR), which builds on ANC by suppressing the noise of win on the microphones. This is supposedly all in the name of offering an “immersive” listening experience.
The most affordable model in the series comes in four colours: Midnight Black, Twilight Gold, Sakura Pink, and Spearmint Green. However, you miss out on features such as ANC, with a price tag of just RM299. What you do get, instead, is “Environmental Noise Cancellation”, which uses four mics to improve the quality of voice calls.
According to 1More, these still offer “excellent sound, convenient controls, and portability”, while you’re also getting IPX5 water resistance that will protect this from splashes and ligh rain.
Other specs include aptX and AAC support, along with auto pause/play and auto pairing features. For battery life, you’re looking at six hours of usage on a single charge, and 22 hours in total including the portable charging case. Meanwhile, 15 minutes of charging should give you enough juice for two hours of usage.
So, what do you think? If you’re keen, head over to 1More’s official Lazada store to find out more.
