OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077: This is the sexiest OnePlus phone of 2020

OnePlus has a history with unique smartphones borne out of partnerships with partners, such as the McLaren-edition OnePlus 7T Pro (although that collaboration may have already seen its last product) But hold your horses. OnePlus has just launched a new special edition version of the OnePlus 8T—a gorgeous-looking tribute to the upcoming (and delayed) Cyberpunk 2077 game.

Visually, the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Special Edition comes with a host of funky accents and highlights. Perhaps the most unique looking thing here is the gigantic camera bump that stretches across the width of the phone’s back. It’s ridiculous—but in a totally awesome way.

There are also a bunch of contrasting highlights on the phone to match the game’s expected visuals, along with a Cyberpunk 2077 logo on the bottom of the phone. The back looks like it has an interesting granite-like finish—although I highly doubt that any actual granite is present here.

That can all be covered up with a special case, along with some themed accessories that you can use with the phone. All of the accessories—and even the box—come in striking black and yellow colours, except for the more conventional white and red charging brick and cable.

There are also some Cyberpunk 2077-themed tweaks to software. The camera app on the special edition now comes with Night City or North California filters, while you’ll be able to match the physical look of the phone with some funky-looking wallpapers and custom UI choices. Of course, the Cyberpunk 2077 OnePlus 8T will run Android 11 out of the box—something that OnePlus championed at launch.

Under the (radically changed) hood, internals remain the same. A Snapdragon 865 processor is paired to 12GB of RAM, while you can still fast-charge the 4,500mAh battery with a Warp 65 charger. The enlarged camera bump also appears to be a stylistic choice (no new cameras), and you’ll have the same 120Hz 6.55″ AMOLED display.

Unfortunately, the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Special Edition is only available for pre-order in China for now. A price of CNY 3,999 (~RM2,483), this is a premium of CNY 300 (~RM186) over the range-topping OnePlus 8T in China—for the exact same specs, although you get a wild-looking smartphone instead.

So, what do you think? Does it appeal to your inner gamer? To me, this might be one of the sexiest smartphones I’ve seen in 2020… and I’ve seen a lot of them.
