Oppo A73 with a “leather-like” back is coming to Malaysia

Ahead of the 11.11 online sale, Oppo has started teasing yet another A-series smartphone that’s coming to Malaysia very soon. The new device is called the Oppo A73 and it will feature a “leather-like” back cover that has a laser-etched “Oppo” monogram.

From the model number, this could be positioned under the Oppo A93 that was recently launched for RM1,299. According to Oppo Malaysia, the A73 will feature a 6.44″ AMOLED display and it will support 30W VOOC flash charging. They didn’t mention the processor but it will be equipped with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

In the camera department, the rear gets a 2×2 cube camera bump that looks more flush compared to the A93. Oppo says that it will get a “16MP ultra-wide-angle quadcam” system, while the front comes with a 16MP selfie shooter. Looking at the teaser image, the back appears to be using “Vegan leather” material similar to the Oppo Find X2 Pro and it will be offered in other dark blue or orange.

The A73 is already listed on Oppo’s Tunisia website. Based on the listed specs, the device is running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor and it has a 4,015mAh battery. It also features a 6.44″ Full HD+ display that comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. For photography, it features a 16MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and two 2MP cameras for depth and bokeh.

In Tunisia, there’s also a dual-tone variant with a design pattern that’s commonly found on some luxury bags. On top of that, the A73 uses a USB-C port and it also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. Interestingly, there was previously an older device that’s called the Oppo A73 which ran on a MediaTek P23. However, the older A73 wasn’t released in Malaysia.

We expect Oppo to drop its pricing and availability details ahead of the 11.11 online sale. The device will be sold exclusively on Shopee.
