Oppo Enco W51: Affordable ANC TWS headphones coming soon to Malaysia

Oppo have confirmed that their latest TWS headphones are coming to Malaysia soon! The Oppo Enco W51 is the latest in the Enco range of affordable headphones, although this time, you’re getting a number of premium features. These include “Hybrid Active Noise Control” and an AirPods Pro-like design, and even support for wireless charging.

Oppo talks a lot about the noise reduction technology used on the Enco W51—for both music playback and calls. Six microphones are used to reduce ambient noise, while a new dual-core digital noise reduction chip supposedly helps to detect and reduce everyday noises of up to 35dB. During calls, air ducts and three microphones work together to reduce your background noise, so that callers on the other end can hear you clearly.

I do find it a little strange that Oppo calls this noise reduction, although the spec sheet mentions ANC when listing down battery life figures. For some context, ANC (active noise cancelling) technology is the go-to standard for premium headphones, although affordable headphones generally come with “hybrid” or “digital” alternatives that don’t quite offer the same level of noise cancelling.

Regardless, it appears that the Oppo Enco W51 does indeed have ANC (even if they aren’t shouting about it), while you also get a wireless charging case that can be charged in just 2.5 hours with a compatible charger. Or, you can charge the case via USB-C, with 0–100 percent taking 80 minutes. Meanwhile, Oppo promises up to 3.5 hours of playback on a single charge with ANC turned on, and 20 hours in total including the charging case.

You also get IP54 water resistance, which does not mean that you can take these swimming. Instead, these should only be able to withstand splashes and light rain. And if you take these out of your ears, playback will automatically stop—and resume once you’ve re-inserted your headphones. Programmable touch buttons are also available on the W51; press once to play/pause, twice to skip songs, or to toggle ANC on/off.

Other specs include Bluetooth 5.0 support, and a weight of 55.5g (including the charging case), while the earbuds have a wireless range of 10m. Colour options include Floral White and Starry Blue, although we don’t have confirmation if these will be available in Malaysia. In fact, Oppo has yet to announce official pricing or a release date just yet, although these are “coming soon”.

Looking at pricing from other regions, the Enco W51 is priced in India at INR 4,999 (~RM281)—which would make this one of (if not the most) affordable headphones with ANC. The Honor Magic Earbuds, for some comparison, also features ANC, and is usually priced at RM399 in Malaysia—and they don’t even support wireless charging.

As such, the Oppo Enco W51 might just be one of the most value-for-money TWS headphones in recent times. However, I haven’t had a chance to get my hands on a unit yet, so I can’t make a reasoned judgement on audio quality for now.
