Proton X50 comes with N95 Cabin Filter for improved in-cabin air quality

On the eve of the Proton X50’s launch, the carmaker has dropped another new video which focuses on comfort. Based on the latest post, the new X50 SUV will come with an N95 Cabin Filter which is currently offered as standard across most of Proton’s models.

The N95 cabin filter was first offered on the updated Proton X70 2020 in May and it is also available as an optional upgrade for existing X70 owners. When it was first introduced, Proton claims that the N95 filter can filter 95% of particles larger than 0.3 microns and 98% of PM2.5 dust particles. It works in both fresh and recirculation modes for the air-conditioning system.

As highlighted in the video, the Proton X50 supports remote engine start and you can turn on the air-conditioning via your smartphone before you get into the car. Despite being based on the Geely Binyue, the X50 for Malaysia gets rear air-con vents which is great for our hot climate.

Unlike the Proton X70, the smaller X50 doesn’t come with an air purification system with ioniser feature. On top of that, it settles for a single-zone auto air-conditioning system instead of dual-zone setup that’s offered on the X70.

To recap, the X50 comes in a total of 4 variants with 2 engine options. The highest flagship variant comes with a 1.5L 3-cylinder TGDi engine that produces 175hp and 255Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed DCT, the Proton X50 Flagship can do 0-100km/h in under 8 seconds and has a fuel economy rating of 6.4 litre per 100km.

This is Proton’s second SUV and it is locally assembled at its Tanjung Malim plant in Perak. At the moment, Proton has yet to disclose its pricing details and the carmaker says it has received 20,000 bookings in the first two weeks.

To catch the watch live, tune in to Proton’s Facebook page tomorrow (27th October) at 10.50am. You can check out other Proton X50 promo videos here.
