Huawei unveils Porsche Design version of the Watch GT 2 Pro at twice the price

The Porsche Design Huawei Watch GT 2 has been announced! The latest child of the Huawei x Porsche Design marriage is a dressed up version of the Watch GT 2 Pro, with the same internals and familiar design now including an adjustable titanium link strap, along with some Porsche-esque accents.

Just like the Pro, the Watch GT 2 Porsche Design uses a titanium case and a ceramic back, while you’re also getting a premium sapphire glass display that should be durable to minor knocks and scratches. The look is matched by a titanium bracelet strap, which has adjustable straps that can be customised to provide an accurate fit.

The influence of Porsche Design is immediately obvious with the Porsche Design text emblazoned on the watch face, while there are red highlights on the bezel of the watch, as well as around the two buttons. Turn the watch over, and on the butterfly buckle of the strap, you’ll see a Porsche Design logo engraved into the brushed titanium. Huawei also says that there will be Porsche-inspired elements on the watch’s LiteOS UI, along with unique Porsche Design watch face that you can use.

Other added stuff that you’re getting on the Porsche Design Huawei Watch GT 2 include a new gold Drive Range Mode (Porsches and golfers go together… right?), and Huawei’s range of health monitoring features. This includes Huawei TruSeen 4.0+ 24-hour heart rate monitoring, stress and sleep tracking, along with SpO2 blood oxygen sensors. For fitness, the watch will track data for over 100 workout modes, with 10 courses to offer voice guidance for runners.

Like many smartwatches nowadays, the Porsche Design Watch GT 2 also has a Route Back feature. This is essentially a breadcrumb navigator to help you navigate back while climbing, hiking, running, or cycling. The smartwatch also supports wireless charging, with Huawei talking up the reverse charging capabilities of their smartphones as part of their ecosystem building attempt.

The rest of the internals are pretty much identical to the Watch GT 2 Pro (not the Watch GT 2). This means that you can expect to have the same impressive 14-day battery life, 5ATM water resistance, the Kirin A1 chip under the hood, and a 1.39″ AMOLED touch display. Like the Pro, the smartwatch can also store music with 4GB of storage, although it’s worth noting that LiteOS does not support streaming services such as Spotify or Deezer.

If you’re keen, the Porsche Design Huawei Watch GT 2 will be available in Europe for a steep, steep price of EUR 695 (~RM3,401). The Watch GT 2 Pro, for some comparison, had a launch price starting at EUR 329 (~RM1,610)—so you’ll have to pay double the price for a watch to go with your Porsche 911 (or, you know, your Toyota).

At the moment, we don’t have the official pricing or availability for the Malaysian market just yet. However, given their track record, we do expect to see the Porsche Design Huawei Watch GT 2 hit Malaysian shelves sooner, rather than later.
