Sony Xperia 1 II now available for pre-order in Malaysia with free ANC headphones

Sony Malaysia has started accepting pre-order for its current Xperia 1 II flagship smartphone. As revealed earlier, the device is officially priced at RM4,999 and it is expected to go on sale in November 2020.

To secure your Sony Xperia 1 II (pronounced as Mark II) in Malaysia, you can pre-order from the official Sony store on Shopee. As a pre-order promo, they are bundling the WF-1000XM3 in-ear headphones for free that retails for RM949. The phone comes in 3 colours – Black, Purple and White. According to the listing, the device is expected to ship within 30 days.

In terms of freebies, this is probably the first time Sony is bundling the WF-1000XM3 with Active Noise Cancellation for its Xperia phones but these days you can easily get them for less than RM600 during major online sales. Last year’s Sony Xperia 1 (Mark I) was bundled with the WH-1000XM3 worth RM1,599.

To recap on the specs, the Xperia 1 II features a 6.5″ 4K HDR OLED display that comes with a 21:9 aspect ratio and it runs on a Snapdragon 865 processor. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and has 256GB of internal storage which is still expandable via microSD card. Although it uses a 60Hz panel, Sony claims you an get a 90Hz-like viewing experience with its motion blur reduction technology.

For taking pictures, it features a triple-camera setup that consists of a 12MP main camera with a 1/1.7″ image sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12MP telephoto camera that offers 3x optical zoom. Upfront, the device gets an 8MP camera for selfies.

As you would expect from a Sony flagship, it still gets stereo speakers as well as IP68 dust and water resistance and it now comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sony is also boasting 20fps burst mode for photography along with real-time Eye Auto Focus. For a cinematic video capture experience, the device has Cinematography Pro powered by CineAlta.

Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery that supports USB-PD fast charging via USB-C and it also supports wireless charging. If you don’t need a 4K display and prefer a compact flagship with a 120Hz screen, there’s the smaller Xperia 5 II. It retails for RM4,099 and is expected to arrive in Malaysia in December 2020.
