COVID-19: Celcom employee in Sabah tested positive, WFH implemented for critical zones

Celcom Axiata Berhad has announced yesterday that one of its employees at Bluecube Sandakan in Sabah has been tested positive for COVID-19. It added that the employee was showing mild symptoms and has been placed under quarantine while awaiting for second test results.

The Bluecube outlet has been closed and they are working with the Ministry of Health to conduct detailed contact tracing and quarantine for all possible close contacts of the employee. This includes employees, guards and technicians at Bluecube Sandakan. A thorough sanitisation of the premise as per health and safety guidelines is being carried out. Celcom also added that all employees of the outlet and their family members are also being tested and placed under home quarantine.

Customers in Sandakan that require support and assistance for its products and services are urge to visit their Celcom Certified Partners in Sandakan or contact Celcom through its digital platforms including Celcom e-Store, Celcom Life App and Celcom Online customer service.

Celcom added that the safety, health and welfare of its employees, customers and communities remain their utmost priority. As part of its continuous proactive measures, the blue telco has implemented Work From Home (WFH) instructions for non-essential service staff located at critical COVID-19 zones including Sabah and Kedah until further notice.

Locations within CMCO areas including Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya are also adopting WFH arrangements until 27th October 2020. For staff located at non-critical zones, they will continue to operate on a rotational working arrangement to reduce the number of employees at any given time. Celcom’s frontliners such as network and Bluecube teams will continue to serve their customers on a rotational work schedule basis to ensure that customers remain connected without any network service disruption.
