iPhone XR and iPhone 11 get RM500 price cut in Malaysia

After the release of the latest iPhone 12 series, Apple has given its older iPhone XR and iPhone 11 models a well deserving price cut. Both devices are now RM500 cheaper and they are currently Apple’s “mid-range” option that covers the price bracket between RM2,399 to RM3,599.

Last year’s iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max have been discontinued, while the iPhone SE 2020 is remains Apple’s “entry-level” option with no change in pricing. Below are the official Malaysian pricing for the iPhone 11, XR and SE.

6.1″ iPhone 11
64GB – RM3,399 RM2,899
128GB – RM3,599 RM3,099
256GB – RM4,099 RM3,599

6.1″ iPhone XR
64GB – RM2,899 RM2,399
128GB – RM3,099 RM2,599

4.7″ iPhone SE
64GB – RM1,999
128GB – RM2,199
256GB – RM2,699

To recap, the iPhone 11 was released last year and it’s essentially an upgraded iPhone XR with a better processor and better cameras. Both devices feature a 6.1″ Liquid Retina HD LCD display that pushes a resolution of 1792×828 pixels. The iPhone 11 runs on an Apple A13 Bionic chip just like the new iPhone SE while the iPhone XR runs on an older Apple A12 Bionic.

In terms of cameras, the iPhone 11 gets a dual-camera setup that consists of a 12MP main and 12MP ultra-wide angle shooter, while the iPhone XR gets a single 12MP shooter. Both can record 4K videos up to 60fps and have optical image stabilisation. For selfies, the iPhone 11 gets a higher resolution 12MP front camera which allows you to vlog in 4K while the XR settles for a lower 7MP shooter that can record videos up to 1080p resolution.

Both devices support Qi wireless charging and fast charging with a USB-PD charger. In terms of battery life, the iPhone 11 is rated to push 17 hours of video playback while the XR is slightly lower at 16 hours.

Depending on the batch you’re getting, all new iPhone stocks for the older iPhone 11, XR and SE will no longer come with a charger and EarPods in the box. The only thing you’re getting is the USB-C to Lightning cable. You can use your existing USB-C charger or buy a compatible USB-PD charger with at least 18W of output.

If you’re willing to spend a bit more for something newer, the iPhone 12 mini is officially priced from RM3,399 while the larger iPhone 12 is priced from RM3,899. So far Apple has yet to reveal its availability dates for the iPhone 12 series in Malaysia.
