Malaysia has reported 563 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 16,220. There are 2 new deaths reported in Sabah and the death toll is now 159.
The Ministry of Health has reported 109 new recoveries and a total of 11,022 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 67.95% while the mortality rate is 0.98%.
There are currently 5,039 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 98 patients are in ICU while 29 require respiratory support.
Out of the 563 cases today, 1 is imported while 562 are transmitted locally. Sabah records the most cases at 291, followed by Pulau Pinang with 141 cases from the remand prison, Selangor with 69 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 28 cases.
10 new cases reported today involved individuals with a travel history to Sabah. There are 6 new clusters identified today, which include Kolong cluster in Sabah, Bah Tropicana in Selangor and Rinting cluster in Johor. There are 3 new clusters in KL, namely Baiduri, Bah Perdana and Bah Kasturi.
In Peninsular Malaysia, there are currently 5 red zones – Timur Laut, Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu, Petaling and Klang. Meanwhile, Sabah has a total of 11 red zones namely Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tuaran, Kota Belud, Kunak, Putatan, Papar, Semporna and Penampang.
As announced by the National Security Council, CMCO will be declared on the entire state of Sabah starting tomorrow, 13th October 2020. Meanwhile, CMCO will be imposed in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya from 14th October 2020.
