Malaysia has reported 489 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of positive cases to 13,993. There are no new deaths reported today and the death toll remains at 141.
The Ministry of Health has reported 74 new recoveries and a total of 10,501 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 75.04% while the mortality rate is 1.01%.
Malaysia currently has 3,351 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 40 patients are in ICU while 13 require respiratory support.
Out of the 489 new cases today, 2 are imported while 487 are transmitted locally. The imported cases consist of a Malaysian returning from India and a foreigner that have arrived from the Maldives. Sabah recorded the most with 282 cases, followed by Kedah with 153 cases.
A total of 10 active clusters have reported new cases today. The Tembok cluster has 139 new cases, followed by 14 new cases from the Bah Sintok cluster and 4 new cases from the Jalan Meru cluster.
The Ministry of Health has also identified 2 new COVID-19 clusters today. This includes Bah Puchong cluster which has 3 positive cases in Selangor and 2 in Perak, and the remand prison cluster in Timur Laut, Penang which has 7 positive cases at the moment.
