COVID-19: 293 new cases today, 4th straight day with over 200 daily cases

Malaysia has reported 293 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 12,381. There are no new deaths today and the death toll is now 137.

The Ministry of Health has reported 67 new recoveries and a total of 10,283 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 83.05% while the mortality rate is 1.11%.

There are currently 1,961 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 28 patients are in ICU while 4 require respiratory support.

Out of the 293 new cases today, 1 is imported from Bangladesh while 292 are transmitted locally. Sabah recorded the most cases with 126, followed by Kedah with 113 cases and Selangor with 31 cases.

According to the Ministry, there are 2 new clusters identified today. This includes Kau Sing cluster in Tawau, Sabah with a total of 7 positive cases and Embun cluster in Hulu Langat, Selangor with a total of 5 positive cases.

30 of the new cases reported today have a recent travel history to Sabah. Since 20th September, there are a total of 206 positive individuals that have returned from Sabah.

The Tembok cluster in Kedah/Perak has 112 new cases today and there are 14 new cases each for the Benteng, Sabah and Jalan Meru, Klang clusters. Bangau-bangau cluster has 13 new cases and Bah Rose has 1 new case.
