Google Meet’s amazing noise cancellation feature is finally on Android and iOS, but there’s a catch

Google Meet’s impressive noise cancellation feature has been out since June but now it is finally making its way to Android and iOS. The technology is said to use the Mountain View company’s cloud-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) to isolate anything that isn’t your voice while you are on a Google Meet Call.

So, how do you enable the feature? Tap on the “More” overflow menu within Google Meet, go to “Settings” and turn on “Noise Cancellation”. Google recommends disabling the feature if “non-speech is an important part of your call, like playing musical instruments.”

This innovative feature by Google joins a host of other neat tricks Google Meet can do like background blurring, which comes in handy when you don’t want people in a meeting to see what the rest of your home looks like.

To use the feature, however, you will need to be a G Suite Enterprise or G Suite Enterprise for Education customer says Google on its website. So yes, if you are on G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite for Education, or G Suite for Nonprofits this won’t be available to you.

Google Meet’s latest feature is expected to roll out today and is said to be fully available in the coming days.
