Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is now officially available in Malaysia

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is now available for purchase in Malaysia after two weeks of pre-order period. This is the latest and greatest foldable device from Samsung and it is a huge improvement over last year’s Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Pricing and availability

To recap, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is officially priced at RM7,999 in Malaysia. It comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, and it also supports 5G. The device is offered in two colours – Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black.

If you’re interested, you can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 at Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung’s online store. As part of its launch promo, Samsung is offering the Galaxy Buds Live (worth RM699) and a 1-time inner screen crack protection for free.

On top of that, Galaxy Z Fold 2 buyers can also buy cases at 20% off. The Leather cover can be yours for RM319 (RRP: RM399) while the Aramid Standing Cover is going for RM239 (RRP: RM299). Each customer is only entitled to buy a maximum of two cases per device with the promo. The launch promo will be available until 31st October 2020 and while stocks last.

Samsung Malaysia is offering a trade-in promo at participating outlets where you can save up to RM3,940 for the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Alternatively, you can also purchase the device on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada and Shopee.

Hardware specs

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 features a 7.6″ QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display on the inside that pushes a high 120Hz refresh rate. On the cover, it now gets a larger 6.2″ HD+ Super AMOLED panel that stretches the full length of the device.

Unlike the original Fold, the new iteration features an improved hinge mechanism which allows it to stay open at various angles, just like the Galaxy Z Flip. The flexible mechanism opens up new possibilities for viewing and creating content. Samsung has also added “sweepers” to the hinges to keep dust and particles from getting in.

Under the hood, the Fold 2 is running on a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865+ processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. For taking pictures, the rear gets a triple-camera setup that consists of a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Both cover and internal displays also get a punch-hole 10MP selfie camera.

Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery that supports 25W fast-charging via USB-C. It also supports fast wireless charging and wireless Powershare. Similar to last year’s Fold, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack but you do get a pair of stereo speakers which are pretty loud.

Customers that purchase the device will enjoy the Galaxy Z Premier Service which provides access to Samsung’s 24/7 Premium careline, free onsite pick-up and delivery service and dedicated priority queue at authorised Samsung Customer Service outlets.
